Personality Disorders

Personality disorders are a group of mental illnesses. They involve long-term patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are unhealthy and inflexible. The behaviors cause serious problems with relationships and work. People with personality disorders have trouble dealing with everyday stresses and problems. They often have stormy relationships with other people.

The cause of personality disorders is unknown. However, genes and childhood experiences may play a role.

The symptoms of each personality disorder are different. They can mild or severe. People with personality disorders may have trouble realizing that they have a problem. To them, their thoughts are normal, and they often blame others for their problems. They may try to get help because of their problems with relationships and work. Treatment usually includes talk therapy and sometimes medicine.

Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time.

The symptoms can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships.

There are several types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and various phobia-related disorders. If you think anxiety is an issue for you, please give a call.

Mood Disorders

A mood disorder is a mental health class that health professionals use to broadly describe all types of depression and bipolar disorders.

Many factors contribute to mood disorders. Biological, chemical, environmental, childhood factors/ trauma, life events, etc. can all be factors that contribute to depression or another mood disorder.

Mood disorders also tend to run in families. Mood disorders can be very serious if not treated or diagnosed properly.

Addiction Disorders

Addictive disorders, such as substance abuse and dependence, are common disorders that involve the overuse of alcohol and/or drugs. Addiction develops over time and is a chronic and relapsing illness. We provide outpatient services for recovering addicts.
